JOHOR BAHRU, May 13 (Bernama) — Local automation and robotics company DF Automation & Robotics Sdn Bhd has launched a new logo and model which is an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) to boost the company’s image as a maker of high tech products.

Chairman Dr Yeong Che Fai said the launch of the new logo and AMR model known as TITAN is in line with the increasing demand for the company’s products globally.

“We have exported robots to foreign countries in Southeast Asia, Europe and so on. We notice there are changes that need to be made and we want our robot products to be different. So, I think we need to change our image a little and we also want to focus on smarter and more intelligent robots.

“This latest logo is a combination of two elements namely birds and growth. When these two elements are combined, they symbolise growth in the market and that is what we are doing,” he told reporters after the launch ceremony of the new logo and AMR model at Pulai Springs Resort, Skudai here last night.

He said TITAN was built for heavy duty use with the ability to carry loads of up to 1.5 tonnes from one place to another automatically, making it suitable for use in the industrial sector thus saving labour.

“We have many customers with warehouses locally and abroad who request a robot to lift heavier items. Previously, our robot was only able to lift loads of up to 500 kilogrammes.

“With this request, we have made this product within one-and-a-half years and now we have a robot that can lift 1.5 tonnes,” he said, adding that a unit of TITAN costs about RM350,000. He said so far the company has sold more than 300 units of various robots in domestic and foreign markets.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) chief executive officer Mohammad Hazani Hassan said DF Automation & Robotics, which has received Business Growth Funding from MTDC since last year, is expected to continue to be a pioneering company to bring Malaysian robotics technology overseas.

He said MTDC and the company had previously jointly developed a delivery robot named Makcik Kiah Robot 19 (MCK19) which had been created to help frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have high hopes for DF Automation & Robotics becoming a leader in robotics. We always encourage local companies to produce products towards IR4.0 (Industrial Revolution 4.0) and this company has helped realise this wish.

“DF Automation & Robotics already has many products. In Malaysia it is working with many multinational companies at the moment. It is these multinational companies that bring its products abroad making us feel proud,” said Mohammad Hazani.

In the meantime, he said MTDC which is an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) will hold a Road2Growth (R2G) Southern Region programme in Iskandar Puteri on May 22 as a platform to showcase small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have receive benefits and guidance from MTDC.
