Kuala Lumpur based, the Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics Accelerator Competitiveness (AMRACE) Centre of Excellence has been selected by PTC Corporation of the US to become its Approved Training Centre (ATC) in Malaysia. It is the only such centre in the region for PTC.
The launch on 25 Oct, of the Creo 9 Computer Aided Design (CAD) solution marked the formal introduction of this partnership.
AMRACE a new subsidiary of STRAND Aerospace Malaysia, capitalising on 16 years of the latter’s experience in developing aerospace products and companies, is also the result of a collaboration between Strand, Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
|AMRACE is led by Naguib Mohd Nor who is also the CEO and owner of Strand Malaysia.
MTDC has a strategic equity in AMRACE to synergise its capabilities with MTDC’s own investee companies. MIDA is supporting it as well with details still being finalised.
“This partnership between AMRACE and PTC is huge as it speaks volumes of the trust and belief this global player has in our ability to roll out such complex solutions in such a fast evolving market,” said Naguib.
AMRACE, with 20 engineers and a strong board of advisors is targeting initially to support the US$1.06 billion to US$1.7 billion (RM5 billion to RM9 billion) Malaysian aerospace manufacturing market with its solutions. “If successful it aims to also service parallel industries of similar complexity and potentially spread out to the regional market. This would at least double the size of its addressable market then,” said Naguib.
Lau Shau Luen, vice president for PTC SEA and ANZ said the partnership was a long time in the making. “PTC spent several years looking for the right partner to support our expansion in Malaysia. We are pleased to be able to launch the latest in our line of advanced products, the Creo 9 CAD solution, with AMRACE.”
The AMRACE – PTC collaboration aims at supporting Malaysian manufacturing and technology services businesses to transform and compete.
AMRACE claims its understanding of Malaysia’s industrial manpower and technology adoption challenges built over years supporting large and small companies in the aerospace industry and PTC’s online and practical training solutions is tailored to expedite this transformation.
