With excitement rising over the much anticipated World Congress on Innovation and Communications 2022 (WCIT22) kicking off tomorrow, Sept 13 to 15 in Penang, Malaysia, the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) has welcomed leading Malaysian VRAR (or 3D data solutions) specialist, Innoveam Sdn Bhd as a sponsor.

Dr Sean Seah, Pikom Chairman said, PIKOM is delighted to have as one of our Bronze Sponsors for WCIT22. Innoveam is a Malaysian based, regional technology provider, developing 3D simulation and visualisation solutions across various industrial verticals. With clients that include PETRONAS, TMOne, TNB, and UKM, in Malaysia, and having a regional presence, we are proud to have them onboard at the congress. Pikom is happy to see more local tech companies like Innoveam, joining a platform such as WCIT to bring their expertise and services on to the world stage.”

Explaining his rationale for supporting the global congress, Muhammad Zamir Rashid, (pic) founder and Managing Director of Innoveam, said, “We see WCIT22 as the premier event in Innovation and Technology, and in-line with our efforts to improve our company’s visibility in the tech ecosystem in Malaysia as well as globally. We see this as a great platform to showcase our capabilities and our positioning as a driver and enabler for VRAR tech adoption for industrial applications.”

Innoveam, which built its first client multiplayer virtual environment back in 2014 is well positioned to be a leader in providing VRAR solutions to the enterprise market backed by the engineering DNA of the organization.

Interest in Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality has accelerated since the pandemic, especially corporate interest in leveraging the virtual and augmented platforms. This has been backed by various new reports as well. Management consultants McKinsey just published the results of an extensive report titled, “Value creation in the metaverse,” which contends that the metaverse may be too big an opportunity to take lightly.

It’s preliminary forecast shows that the metaverse has the potential to be a US$5 trillion (RM22 trillion) in value ecosystem by 2030 – a mere 8 years away.

“The metaverse represents a strategic inflection point for companies, and it presents a significant opportunity to influence the way we live, connect, learn, innovate, and collaborate,” said Eric Hazan, senior partner, McKinsey.

Zamir needs no convincing about the importance of immersive technologies. “As engineers who develop 3D based applications and VRAR content, we are spearheading the utilisation of VRAR technology in industry, particularly in providing a secure and private collaborative metaverse platform for companies to simulate and visualise their business assets, equipment, and facilities, in order for their employees to work together,” he said, adding, “This will directly improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and create value for those companies.”

Opening tomorrow, Pikom said WCIT 2022 has over-achieved the target of delegates with more than 4,000 delegate-tickets booked.

The association also said due to overwhelming response, it has been asked to accommodate additional requests for tech companies to participate at the WCIT 2022 exhibition and TechFest 2022.

This will go down on record as the largest experiential technology festival and conference in Malaysia, post pandemic.

“We hope visitors to WCIT22 can come over to our booth (C47-48 located in Hall 1 of the SPICE Convention Centre) to try out first hand how collaboration can be achieved in a Mixed Reality environment, using multiple connected Microsoft HoloLens 2 devices, and our Collaveo Private Metaverse Platform. We look forward to seeing everyone there,” said Zamir.
