KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) has partnered with SG Akademi Sdn Bhd (SGA) to strengthen talent development in the drone industry via the Centre of 9 Pillars (Co9P).

The two parties today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the areas of capacity-building, training, technology development, and other specific activities such as providing technological services related to Industry 4.0 (I4.0), with specialities in drone technology and Internet of Things (IoT).

The Co9P houses I4.0 partners and relevant ecosystem companies and facilitate networks to collaboratively develop local I4.0 technologies, services and solutions.

MTDC chief executive officer Datuk Norhalim Yunus said the partnership will see both parties identifying more participants for training, workshops, and seminars to be trained in Drone and IoT.

“The partnership also underlines MTDC’s commitment as the strategic enabler for I4.0 as the centre aims to nurture the next generation of proficient and certified drone operators by leveraging the expertise of both organisations in addressing the fast-changing needs of the industry,” he said.

During the MoU signing event, SGA presented a sponsorship of RM100,000 to strengthen talent development in the drone industry.

With regards to the provision of training and solutions in drone technologies for Co9P, the sponsorship would benefit 20 students from the Institut Kemahiran Baitulmal who will undergo a 14-day drone training course at the Co9P Drone and IoT centre.

At the same time, the establishment of the centre enables MTDC to further assist Malaysian businesses in identifying local talents for their customised drone needs and also in the creation and development of drone technopreneurs.
